Thermolator® PC Series Air and Water-Cooled

RELIABLE,
EFFICIENT AND
AFFORDABLE

COOLING

Thermolator PC-Series portable chillers are quality engineered by Conair for year-round, 24/7 operation under the harshest of industrial conditions. Combine that with a compact design, state-of-the-art temperature controls and Conair's exclusive 3-year warranty and it adds up to the best line of chillers available today.

Designed with a large assortment of options so you decide on the feature sets you need, Conair chillers are also the most flexible choice in the industry.

Affordably priced, full-featured product line

Twelve Conair Thermolator Series PC air cooled portable models are available from 1.2 to 28.8 nominal tons. In addition, there are 11 water cooled models from 1.4 to 29.7 nominal tons. An extensive line at attractive prices.

Each chiller is a complete package, including all necessary refrigeration and water/coolant system components. Just roll them into place, bring 3-phase power to them, make your water connections and they are ready to go.

Easily removed panels and careful component placement result in ease of access and service. And the compact cabinet design takes up to 40% less of your valuable floor space compared to other chillers on the market.

  • ACCURATE TEMPERATURE CONTROL
Multi-function microprocessor/logic controller includes LED display, pump, compressor, hot gas bypass and alarm status lights. Full-featured PLC control system standard on 15 - 30 hp air cooled and 20 - 30 hp water cooled models (optional on other sizes).
  • NON-FERROUS CONSTRUCTION
All chilled water contact surfaces are non-ferrous for protection against corrosion. Pumps and reservoirs are stainless steel. All other wetted surfaces are brass, copper or other non-ferrous materials.
  • RELIABLE, HEAVY DUTY DESIGN
Time proven component suppliers like Copeland, Scot Pump, Sporlan, Ranco, Johnson Controls and Cutler-Hammer have been chosen for ultimate reliability and availability of parts. Each chiller is factory tested under load prior to shipment.
  • UNPARALLELED WARRANTY
Conair is so confident in the Thermolator portable chillers that we include an industry-best warranty for 3 years from date of shipment, including parts and labor. Add 24/7 parts and service support and none can compare.

Basic Features (included on all models)

Basic Control – Large LED display of process temperatures. Scroll buttons allows you to display several readouts including setpoint, to process and from process. Selectable control point; choose between to process, from process and average of to process and from process. Three status lights that show, pump, hot gas bypass and compressor.

Standard Warranty – Full 3 year parts and labor warranty from the casters up, the best in the industry.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES
  • Controls – in a NEMA-rated (sealed) enclosure.
  • Brazed Plate Evaporators – High-surface area, rapid response.
  • Standard Hot Gas Bypass that relieves all the way down to 25%.
  • Stainless Steel Construction – Process pump and tank with non-ferrous construction of all wetted surfaces.
  • Compressor Service Valves – Allows service of refrigeration circuit with out evacuation.
Options:

Optional PLC Control – Programmable logic control systems includes automatic fine tuning of PID control parameters, two line LCD display. Readouts include actual temperature, To and From Process, refrigerant suction and discharge pressure. Condenser fan cycling is standard.

Process Water Valves – Factory installed to and from process chilled water valves used to isolate/ disconnect the chiller from process. Reduces field installation costs.

Process Pump Pressure Gauge – Provides a mechanical readout of the process pump discharge pressure for roughly estimating flow and detecting pump problems.

Optional Remote PLC Control – Redundant operational interface. Allows for control and readout of chiller locally or up to 50 feet away.

Process Water Bypass with Valves – Includes process water valves and a prepiped, external bypass line with bypass valve for low flow/high delta T processes which would limit flow through the chiller.

Evaporator Strainer – Protects the evaporator from solid contaminants in the process water stream (example: pellets in an open extrusion cooling tank). Bronze construction. Prepiped.

Autofill – Reservoir level sensor and solenoid to allow connection to city water for automatic water make-up. (Not recommended when chiller is charged with Glycol.)

Condenser Fan VFD – Variable frequency condenser fan motor drive matches energy consumption with chiller operating conditions under varying ambient air temperatures and cooling loads.

Vertical Air Discharge – Vertical condenser air discharge directs the condenser air upwards so personnel adjacent to the chiller are not exposed to the warm air stream. Available in size 2 cabinets only.

Condenser Air Filter(s) – Recommended when chiller is located in a dusty area. Filters help prevent dirt buildup on condenser surfaces, which can result in reduced capacity or high refrigerant pressure cutout. Filters for size 1 cabinets are disposable. Filters for size 2 cabinets are cleanable.

Alarm Bell – 4 inch bell indicates any chiller fault that may occur.

Alarm Strobe – Highly visible strobe light indicates any chiller fault that may occur.

Condenser Water Regulating Valve – Regulates chiller capacity when the condenser water is below the normal design point of 85ºF. This option is requiredif the chiller will be exposed to condenser water temperatures below 80ºF.

Additional Options:
  • Dual Pumps – Includes a second pump dedicated to recirculating water through the evaporator. Standard design is double flow (4.8 gpm/ton) for turbulent flow and increased heat transfer. Also recommended for applications where process flow varies greatly.
  • UL Labeling – Includes UL labeled electrical enclosure only.
  • High Ambient – Oversized condenser surfaces and increased air flow allow for operation in ambient temperatures as high as 120ºF (115ºF for 15 hp model). Includes condenser fan VFD.
  • Hot Gas Bypass Isolation Valve – Used to shut off the hot gas bypass line and to verify proper operation of the hot gas bypass solenoid valve.
  • Large Selection of Process Pump Sizes - Allow for various flow and pressure requirements.
  • Evaporator Water Pressure Differential Switch - Clogged evaporator sensing.
  • Condenser Water Differential Pressure Switch - Clogged condenser sensing.
  • Condenser Fan Cycling - Regulates chiller capacity when the ambient air temperature is below the normal design point of 95ºF. This option is requiredif the chiller will be exposed to ambient temperatures below 70ºF.
  • Cleanable Shell and Tube Condenser - In lieu of tube-in-tube or brazed plate. Cleanable with removable end bells. Recommended when contaminated water is supplied to the condenser (example: dirty cooling tower water).
  • Condenser Water Strainer - Helps to protect the condenser from solid contaminants in the condenser water (example: dirty cooling tower water). Cast iron construction.
  • Vertical Air Discharge - Vertical condenser air discharge directs the condenser air upward so personnel adjacent to the chiller are not exposed to the warm air stream. Available in size 2 cabinets only.
  • Extended Compressor Warranty - All units include a standard limited warranty covering parts and labor for 3 years from date of shipment. This warranty extension covers the compressor(s) only for an additional 2 years. Labor, refrigerant or any other chiller parts are not included during the extended warranty period. Replacement compressor( s) are shipped F.O.B. points or origin, freight collect or freight prepaid and invoiced.
